Discovery Toys Backyard Safari Net Gun Review

So, I've finally gotten to the point where I no longer cringe when a toy has the word, "gun" in the name. I've even bought my son a few guns...OK- little tiny ones for his Playmobil figures but, guns nonetheless.

Note: I still maintain my rule...I'm not buying any to-scale or child size guns...if you make it ( which he does out of Legos, Tinkertoys, sticks, toast. etc.) ) you can keep it but I'm not buying any.

So I felt pretty good about myself when I was asked by the Parent Blogger Network to review the Discovery Toys Backyard Safari Net Gun.

My son was quite eager to open the box when it arrived and promptly assembled it and shot it. Wow! That net has some range! We immediately understood the"backyard" part and banished him outside with it.

The net gun comes with 4 rather larger than life bugs to capture with the net and he had quite a bit of fun doing that doing that for about an hour until one of the pieces of the net broke off preventing the gun from loading properly.

Sigh. The more plastic parts the more likelihood of breakage.

As my son ages and wants more complicated toys I run into this more often.

Another one bites the dust.
